The Cedar Forest covers part of the summit plateau of the Petit Luberon. Introduced in the 1860s by foresters to a few hectares, the cedar trees have now spread across more than 250 hectares. Several trails wind through this beautiful forest. Location: Bonnieux, Puget-sur-Durance Site type: Remarkable relief, Scenic viewpoint, Notable geological formation Visit duration: 2 hours One of the trails leads to the Portalas viewpoint. From here, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Durance Valley, the Alpilles, the Sainte-Victoire, and the Étang de Berre. 200,000 years ago, the Durance was a river that flowed through the Lamanon threshold to the sea, creating its delta in the current location of the Crau plain.
