Sur les communes de Lacoste et M\u00e9nerbes, certains niveaux sont connus pour leur accumulation de fossiles et leur conservation exceptionnelle de Pectens, oursins et autres fossiles. Ces fossiles sont prot\u00e9g\u00e9s par la r\u00e9serve naturelle nationale g\u00e9ologiaue du Luberon.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;utilisation de la &#8220;pierre du Midi&#8221; est s\u00e9culaire ; La plupart\u00a0 de carri\u00e8res de pierre de taille sont maintenant abandonn\u00e9es, mais plusieurs d&#8217;entre elles sont encore en activit\u00e9. Outre la taille de blocs, les molasses mioc\u00e8nes ont connu, entre autres, une utilisation rupestre et une utilisation de dalles d\u00e9lit\u00e9es naturellement. Des sites troglodytiques y ont \u00e9t\u00e9 am\u00e9nag\u00e9s en creusant dans cette roche mioc\u00e8ne relativement tendre. La molasse du Burdigalien se pr\u00eate admirablement \u00e0 la construction de murets, bories, restanques \u2026Elle se d\u00e9bite naturellement en petites lauzes qui ont\u00e9t\u00e9 ramass\u00e9es et accumul\u00e9es par les paysans et les bergers au cours des temps, en tas appel\u00e9s clapiers.<\/p>\n<p>Ces roches se sont d\u00e9pos\u00e9es au d\u00e9but du Mioc\u00e8ne. A cette \u00e9poque, les eaux marines p\u00e9n\u00e8trent en Provence par le sud, progressent vers le nord dans la vall\u00e9e du Rh\u00f4ne et s\u2019avancent jusqu\u2019en Suisse. Sur le territoire du Luberon, cette mer d\u00e9pose, en majeure partie, des calcaires renfermant des grains de quartz, des petits graviers et des d\u00e9bris d\u2019organismes. La roche qui en r\u00e9sulte est appel\u00e9e molasse.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fusion-text\">\n<div>\n<h4 class=\"remainingText\">Les villages perch\u00e9s<\/h4>\n<p>A<span class=\"text-center police-3 police-intro\">vec leurs fa\u00e7ades en pierre souvent regroup\u00e9es autour d\u2019une \u00e9glise, d\u2019un ch\u00e2teau, d\u2019une tour, les nombreux villages perch\u00e9s, charg\u00e9s d\u2019histoire, sont e<\/span>mbl\u00e9matiques des paysages du Luberon<span class=\"text-center police-3 police-intro\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text-center police-3 police-intro\">M\u00e9nerbes, Gordes, Les <\/span>Taillades, Lacoste, Bonnieux, Saignon, Saint-Martin-de-Castillon et Forcalquier <span class=\"text-center police-3 police-intro\">sont repr\u00e9sentatifs des villages perch\u00e9s sur le bord d\u2019un plateau de molasse, caract\u00e9ristiques du Luberon. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box
