Les deux promontoires rocheux\u00a0 qui dominent le bourg offrent une vue exceptionnelle sur le Luberon, de la plaine de Cavaillon au Mont Ventoux.<\/p>\n<p>Le centre historique et son \u00e9glise perch\u00e9e du XVIIIe si\u00e8cle se situe dans la partie haute du village. La carri\u00e8re au c\u0153ur du vieux village est devenue le Th\u00e9\u00e2tre des Carri\u00e8res.<\/p>\n<p>En bas du village se trouve le canal de Carpentras et son superbe moulin Saint-Pierre datant de 1859<span class=\"texte\"> avec sa grande roue \u00e0 aube. Il \u00e9tait <\/span><span class=\"texte\">utilis\u00e9 autrefois pour moudre la farine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Le village a \u00e9t\u00e9 b\u00e2ti sur des roches calcaires (molasse), des sables et des marnes datant du <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mioc%C3%A8ne\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mioc\u00e8ne<\/a>. Ces roches se sont form\u00e9es dans la mer il y a environ 20 millions d&#8217;ann\u00e9es. Les couches de molasse <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Burdigalien\">burdigalienne<\/a> utilis\u00e9es comme pierre de taille (carri\u00e8res du village et alentours\u2026) contiennent des fossiles (pectens, dents de requins\u2026).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Une histoire des carri\u00e8res<\/h4>\n<p>L\u2019histoire des Taillades est li\u00e9e aux carri\u00e8res et aux carriers qui ont fa\u00e7onn\u00e9s le village tel qu\u2019il appara\u00eet aujourd\u2019hui. Les Taillades tirent leur nom du proven\u00e7al \u00ab talhada \u00bb qui signifie couper, fendre ; activit\u00e9s fortement li\u00e9es \u00e0 l&#8217;extraction des pierres dans les carri\u00e8res.<\/p>\n<p>Il est probable que la molasse sur laquelle est b\u00e2ti le village ait \u00e9t\u00e9 exploit\u00e9e depuis les temps anciens.
