LUBERON-LURE BIOSPHERE RESERVE<\/strong>
\nMan and the Biosphere<\/p><\/h1><\/div>

Since 1997, the Luberon has been part of UNESCO’s international network of biosphere reserves, that are meant to demonstrate a balanced relationship between people and nature. <\/strong>The Luberon-Lure Biosphere Reserve is bordered to the south and to the east by the synclinal fold of the Durance, one of the largest rivers southeast of the Rh\u00f4ne which feeds important wetland habitats. The reserve includes Mediterranean plains and hills irrigated by small rivers (Calavon, Largue, Lauzon). It embraces two mid-altitude mountain chains, the Luberon massif (1,125 m) and the Vaucluse Mountains (1,256 m).<\/strong><\/p>\n
