Come and discover the geology museum, located in the beautiful vaulted cellars of the Luberon Regional Nature Park House in Apt.
Embark on a journey through space and time to explore the rich and eventful history of the Luberon over the past 130 million years.
Free admission on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (except on public holidays).

On the ground floor, the first room highlights what makes the Luberon a exceptional geological territory: its stunning landscapes, the diversity of its rocks, and the extraordinary abundance of remarkably well-preserved fossils—fish, insects, birds, plants—that have earned the region both national and international recognition as a French National Geological Nature Reserve and a UNESCO Global Geopark.

In the vaulted cellar, visitors are invited to explore the geological history of the Luberon, shaped by the advance and retreat of ancient seas, the rise of mountains, the formation of faults and folds, seismic activity, and the persistent work of erosion.
Marine (ammonites, nautiluses, oysters), freshwater (fish, frogs, turtles), and terrestrial (mammals, birds, insects, bats) fossils reveal the succession of life forms through time and help reconstruct the landscapes of the past.

The interactive geological puzzle, designed especially for children, offers a playful introduction to the region’s geology.
The illustrated map of the territory, featuring nearly 200 annotated and illustrated points of interest: the 100 municipalities of the Luberon-Lure area, highlights on natural, cultural, and agricultural heritage, landscape evolution, tourist offices, farmers’ markets, and more.
A game on local flora and fauna, where players must match species with their correct habitats, while avoiding intruders—with animal sounds included to enhance the experience.
A video space, showcasing the richness of the region and the actions taken by the Park and its partners to protect and promote it.
